Greetings!

This month, we reveal Pat's own personal notes from last year's Discus Dental Extravaganza. America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, and Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw provided the "star power." But here, direct to your email box, we reveal just a few of the dental pearls from the meeting.

Dr. Debra Gray King Urges "Under-Promise; Over-Deliver"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Patients will ask you, "Will the veneers break?"
Don't say, "No, they won't" ... because they can.
Answer honestly. "Well, it's rare, but it can happen, and if it happens, this is what we'll do."
Tell the patient it will be ready in four weeks if it will be ready in three. It's under-promise and over-deliver, not the other way around!
Dr. Debra Gray King isn't blazing a path for women dentists ... she and her husband Dan are blazing a path for all of us. Their web site may be the best in all of dentistry. Take a look. You'll see why it's hard to drag them away from their practice and get them to speak!
Best Dental Web Site?
Dr. Larry Rosenthal's Four Questions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dentist to the stars Dr. Larry Rosenthal says, "You have a chance to change people's smiles and change their lives." Larry calls it an "obligation" to ask four questions to every one of our patients starting Monday morning.

1. Do you like your smile?
2. Do you like the color of your teeth?
3. If you'd like to change anything about your smile, what would it be?
4. Would you like to see what you might look like with a new smile?

Larry continues:

You ask these questions to every patient at recall, 7 or 8 a day, four or five days a week, that's 30 people a week. How many might answer, "Yes," to one of these?

At least half.

If just half say, "Yes," what will you do then? You've got 15 new consultations from that week. What are you going to do? You can't see them all. You'll have to set a day aside just to handle these consultations!

You take pictures and show these patients what they might look like. It's another business within your business.

"I'd like to see what it looks like."

At least ask

Show Your Patients What's Possible

Gary Takacs' Approach
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Practice management guru Gary Takacs has an approach of his own without asking a question at all.
"Tell me how you feel about your smile."
So then what?
Gary loves SmileVision, where you can "outsource" your cosmetic imaging and get it right back. Patients who never thought about their smile now will.
There's something about seeing a picture of yourself that makes a much bigger impact than seeing a picture of someone else. And their "templating" technique makes doing the dentistry almost as easy as taking the picture.
"Blueprint" Your Next Case!
Your Harley Awaits You
If you like to ride motorcycles, today is your lucky day. Just tell your spouse the truth:
You're taking a dental CE course.
Really.
Who's Next
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's not too early to plan your 2006 CE.

Who will be the celebrity speakers at Discus' 2006 meeting?

Donald Trump and Stephen Covey. Yes, that's THE Donald along with the author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

And you'll leave with more dental tips than can fit in an e- newsletter. Check it out:
