~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Office Magic Newsletter Dynamite Your Status-Quo to Achieve Breakthrough Success. July 2012 Greetings! If you're not receiving the Madow Brothers' e-Letter, you should be. It's provocative, it's useful, and it's usually contrarian -- you need to know what they're saying. Take it away, boys! The Experts Speak "We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out." -- Decca Recording Co. rejecting the Beatles, 1962. "The concept is interesting and well-formed, but in order to earn better than a 'C,' the idea must be feasible." -- A Yale University management professor in response to Fred Smith's paper proposing reliable overnight delivery service. (Smith went on to found Federal Express Corp.) "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers." -- Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943 "That 'Rainbow' song is no good - take it out." -- MGM official memo after the first screening of The Wizard Of Oz. So how about you? Are you making any statements like this? If you said "no" - please think again, because we all do!! Okay - maybe not on the same scale as rejecting The Beatles or dismissing the personal computer. But how many times have we made a negative statement about our dental practice? "If we start presenting perio therapy to our patients who have been coming in for cleanings every six months, they will freak out!!" "We can't have Saturday hours - no one will show up!" "Produce a million dollars next year? I don't see how it's physically possible." "I can't schedule more hygiene hours - they'll never get filled!" And the list goes on and on. But the fact is, you can do just about anything you want to in your practice, and if you aren't doing it, someone else will!! So next time you think you can't do something - look at these statements again. They were made by very smart people too!!!
